Making The Most of Summer: Fantastic Activities Across Our Homes!

There has been so much going on across our care homes recently, and we wanted to celebrate the fantastic work of our lovely Activity Coordinators, who continue to find new ways to keep residents active, connected and, most importantly, having fun!

From days out exploring our local communities to summer celebrations at home, residents and staff have been making the most of the warmer weather.

🌳 Burgess Manor enjoyed a lovely trip to the park, with a focus on getting outdoors, exercising and getting those all-important steps in. Of course, no good walk is complete without a well-earned stop at the café afterwards!

💦 Over at Ash Grove, residents and staff took full advantage of the sunshine with a brilliant water fight. There were plenty of smiles, laughter and probably more than a few people who ended up wetter than they expected!

🦆 A trip to Martin Mere gave our Burgess Manor residents the opportunity to get closer to nature, enjoy the fresh air and see some of the wonderful wildlife on our doorstep.

🐴 Ash Grove residents and staff also had a lovely day out at HAPPA in Burnley, the local horse, pony and donkey rescue centre. It was wonderful to meet some of the animals and learn more about the fantastic work HAPPA does caring for and rehabilitating horses in need.

🎶 Sandy Banks brought the summer celebrations home with a fantastic summer BBQ, complete with a live band. Great food, music and company made for a brilliant summer atmosphere for residents, staff and visitors to enjoy together.

🚜 Mother Redcaps headed off for a fun-filled trip to the farm, getting out into the countryside, meeting the animals and enjoying a change of scenery.

🌊 Residents from Blair House made the most of living close to the coast with a stroll along Blackpool front. Fresh sea air, familiar sights and a walk along the promenade made for a lovely day out.

🎭 Meanwhile, Byron Court enjoyed a trip to Crosby Comrades Club to watch a variety show – a great opportunity to enjoy some live entertainment while getting out and about in the local community.

These activities are about so much more than simply filling the diary. Getting outdoors and staying active can support residents’ physical health, mobility and wellbeing, while days out provide stimulation, conversation and new experiences. They can bring back memories, encourage friendships and give residents something special to look forward to.

Just as importantly, our trips help residents remain part of the local community. Whether it’s visiting a café, walking along the seafront, supporting a local attraction or enjoying entertainment at a community venue, these experiences help maintain those important connections with the world beyond our homes.

A huge thank you and well done to all of our Activity Coordinators and the staff who support them. The planning, creativity and enthusiasm that goes into making these experiences possible really does make a difference.

Here’s to plenty more adventures, laughter, fresh air and happy memories! 🌞💚
